Translational Research at its Core
To realise the vision of thriving minds through leading innovative research and development.

ISN Innovations is the research and development arm of the Institute for Social Neuroscience. It conducts research within core themes of the institute undertaking purpose driven research within ISN Innovations research divisions to deliver new knowledge, advances in clinical practice and/or commercial clinical and biotechnology outcomes. ISN Innovations through its research, will provide work integrated learning opportunities for students to conduct research and undertake work-ready evidence based clinical methods used in pursuit of translational research opportunities.
Our Mission
To realise our vision by delivering leading translational research, development, practical outcomes and partnerships
Research to understand how people and societies can thrive
Excellence in research, that is world leading
Evidence-based approaches to help people thrive within societies
Rapid translation of research outcomes
Leading partnerships that catalyse local, national and international impact
Translational Research Divisions

Clinical Psychology
Effective research to establish efficacy of treatments for clinical practice and developing an evidence base for applied application in psychology. Bringing together experts in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Child Psychology. The translational division contains two research units:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Research Unit
Childhood Mental Health Unit

Clinical Neuropsychology
Our psychology projects explore neuropsychology and impacts on behaviour, cognitive functioning and mental state to establish efficacy of treatments for psychology practice and developing an evidence base for applied application in psychology. This translational research division contains two research units:
Ageing and Dementia Unit
Social Cognition Unit

Human Performance and Wellbeing
Explore exciting possibilities to work in the field of human performance and wellbeing. This research division has a focus on ‘optimal performance’ drawing on sport and exercise psychology and wellbeing research to develop evidence based approaches to transformative psychology outcomes. This translational research division contains three research units:
Mental Health Literacy Unit
Sport and Exercise Performance and Rehabilitation Unit
Wellbeing Fostering Performance Unit

Clinical Neuroscience
Explore the new generation technology to conduct translational research to establish efficacy of treatments for clinical neuroscience. This includes research in developing technologies applied to the the development of advanced therapeutics relevant to clinical neuroscience.
This translational research division contains three research units:
Neurobionics and Engineering Psychology Unit
Predictive and Assistive Therapeutics Unit
Neuro aesthetics and User Experience Unit
Research Funding
As ISN invests into research, Honours and Master Level students have access to well-funded research placements.
We have a range of projects run by ISN academics and we also collaborate with other researchers in the industry.

Postgraduate Research
Our students are able to engage in research with world-leading professionals. Funding may be provided for research that is consistent with ISN’s vision.
We are growing the research program to include joint work with a broad range of medical facilities, hospitals and other education providers.
These partnerships provide opportunities to collaborate on research projects in a student’s fields of interest, or to undertake clinical placement positions in hospitals and other agencies.
